What is a Giclée Print?The term “Giclée” derives from the French word meaning “spray” or “spitting of ink.” It describes an archival art process where the image is reproduced on a graphic printer from a professionally made positive transparency. Are Giclée Prints photography or painting?Giclée artwork are prints of an original photographic positive transferred to an archival quality canvas. Why canvas?The archival quality canvas used to produce the art work provides the look and feel of an original canvas painting. And the use of archival quality canvas eliminates the need for a protective cover glass and its inherent distortion. |
What is meant by “archival” canvas?We use a canvas material which has been developed to ensure long life of the art work (up to 200 years). We do, however, recommend that the art work not receive prolonged exposure to direct sun light since the ultraviolet (UV) radiation may cause premature fading. What will the frame, which has been selected by the artist, look like?The artist selects a frame to compliment the image you have selected, taking into consideration the size of the reproduction and the popularity of frames previously purchased. If desired, you may select your own frame from the selection shown. |
